Spine! – Asimira & Olivia

When Asimira encountered rope bondage through her art school graduation project in 2015 she fell head over heels in love and dove headfirst into the international rope scene. Ropes provided a space for her to incorporate corporeality in a playful way. Her fascination for ropes and what they can do to her own body and the bodies of others in her hands led her to start a new education in physiotherapy. As a teacher her focus is on anatomy, and on ways to be playful and intimate as soon and as often as possible when tying.

Olivia started her rope journey back in 2017. While knowing some rigging basics, her main experience lies in her role as a model. Her passion for aerial sports as well as her years as a model in various workshops have allowed her to acquire and strengthen her skills.

Asimira and Olivia connected in Spring 2023, after having known about each other for years but both having been too shy to approach. Their chemistry and affection for each other is palpable whenever they teach or perform together.

Workshop

The spine is at the core of our body and therefore an integral part of every bondage session we do. Positions that challenge the mobility of our spine, like backbends and torsions, are notorious for how challenging they can be, and yet also often sought out, for their challenges, aesthetics or sensation.

Asimira works as a physiotherapist and will take you on an anatomical tour of the spine in this workshop. We will talk about the spine, how it does and doesn’t move, and how to move someone or be moved into challenging positions. The workshop will have a strong focus on backbends.

Prerequisites

This workshop will be quite technical on a body-level rather than a rope level. It is most suitable for people that are able to tie a suspendable upper body harness and an upline.
