Ropes and Whips – Part 1

A workshop proposal for rope folks with the desire to implement the (potentially) supersonic element into their rope play.
This workshop series explores a playful yet technical approach to combining two vastly different elements of BDSM with their distinct approaches in skill aquisition.
Contents:
In part 1 we will:
- cover the basics of handling a 5ft bullwhip (will be provided!) for interpersonal play with limited dynamic elements and some possible play scene with rope
- take space requirements and the limitations of the typical rope space into consideration and learn how to adapt.
- learn about different cracker materials and how to make them better for play.
- Andis regular 5-10 minute practice routine.
Part 2 (date tbd, potentially 28.8, 2 months after part 1) will advance combining the elements, given that participants have practiced enough to make this a safe and fun experience especially for the whip catchers.
Part 3 (date tbd, potentially 2.10 or 25.9, 2 months after part 2) will provide some examples of Andis playful approach of combining the elements, giving established examples.
Requirements (Rigger/Whip handler)
- pre-existing rope skills with dynamic, *sustainable* suspensions on ring and bamboo as hardpoints.
- the commitment to practice the taught whip techniques on your own* inbetween workshop slots**.
- a trusty partner as rope and whip bottom with the willingness to grow and nourish this skillset together.
- safety googles and earplugs.
- being able to deal with frustration and not hit harder when angry.
- be known to us personally, commit and be present. These skills cannot be learned in a one-off workshop.
- taking care of the whip provided. You break it, you buy it! You like it, you can still buy it 🙂
* remote video analysis and guidance will be provided if you are stuck.
** building muscle memory requires repetition, repetition and even more repetition. You need to practice on your own, get a feel for the whip and at least an approximate idea, where it will land.
Requirements (Rope bottom/whip catcher)
- trust and patience with your partner
- being in tune with your body in rope
- being able to communicate accurately and adequately while being in potentially strenouus suspensions.
- being able to deal with frustration and not lash out on your learning partner when a whip ends up in the wrong place.
- safety googles and earplugs.
- a bit of masochism helps
